This article is part of an ongoing series designed to help us get to know our brothers better. If you know a brother who would make a good profile candidate, please send his name and graduation year, along with your name and graduation year, to our alumni relations service: [email protected]. Please mention it is for Delta Tau Delta Kenyon. We hope you enjoy this alumni profile.

Why did you join Delta Tau Delta?
When I first arrived, I didn’t know if I would join a fraternity or not. I had an introduction to several different fraternities, but I picked the Delts because they had the best people … people like my big brother, Don Hassler ’84, and Steve Neri ’84. Most were very active in the school, great athletes and a lot of fun. It was clearly the leading frat on campus.

Tell us about your favorite memory of the fraternity.
Obviously, there are many things … the first pledge welcome, New Year’s Eve parties in November and NA1 with my fraternity brothers during my senior year. I lived with Karel Starek ’86, Todd Perrett ’86, Culley Stimson ’86, Don Gest ’86 and Wally Danforth.

With whom do you still stay in contact?
I am still occasionally in touch with Culley Stimson and Todd Parrett.

What are your thoughts about the chapter today?
In order for Chi Chapter to sustain itself in the Kenyon environment, they will have to actively solicit alumni support … both from a financial and mentoring perspective. College institutions go through cycles – both pro-Greek and not pro-Greek. My perspective is that it is not pro right now. Communication like this Web site is necessary in order for alumni to actively support the chapter. The more the alums stay actively involved with the chapter, the more they can be actively involved in helping young men to find jobs … it’s the finest network you can have. I am more than open to helping Chi brothers find jobs. Don’t be afraid to ask for help!

Tell us about your family.
I am married to Beth. She was a vice president at the same firm where I am now. She is now at home with our 15-month-old son, Philip III.

In addition, I lead the coordination of M&A-related services from the sister firms of MMC which include MMC Capital Inc., Mercer Consulting Group and Putnam Investments.
