Brother Ralph E. String ’50, joined Chapter Eternal on Oct. 18, 2016.
A resident of Pepper Pike, Ohio, he was 89. Ralph was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Before entering college, he served for 15 months in the U.S. Marine Corps. He majored in economics at Kenyon, where he played varsity lacrosse and joined Delta Tau Delta.
A Cleveland stockbrokder through his long and successful career, Ralph was working at Bache and Company when he published “The Stock Market: Made Easier” in the late 1950s. In 1970, after several years at Murch and Company, he joined McDonald and Company, becoming a partner a year later and retiring as a senior vice president. Even in retirement, though, he worked for the McDonald Financial Group as a financial advisor.
Ralph is survived by three sons, Jansen String, Kevin String and Linsey String; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann String Minar. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Nuss String, in 2010.
