New Officers Elected

By Peter Orlos ‘18

As fall semester comes to an end on the hill, brothers bundle up to fight the cold, start studying for final exams, and prepare to go back home for winter break. The end of the year also signifies the new officers election to determine leadership in Chi when we all come back in January. Last Tuesday, brothers united at the Lodge to hold elections — the outcomes were as follows:

November Is National Diabetes Awareness Month

In recognition of Delta Tau Delta’s partnership with JDRF, the Fraternity recognizes National Diabetes Awareness Month in November and World Diabetes Day on November 14. Earlier this year the Fraternity celebrated exceeding the $1 million donation milestone. In this issue of The Rainbow, learn how the philanthropic journey continues for undergraduates and alumni.

Notes from Standing Rock

by Henry Burbank ’16

“Bridge Closde,” the spray-painted sign ominously read. There were three of us in the white, U.S. Government-plated Ford Expedition, and we were some ways away from the nearest dirt, let alone asphalt, road. For the past fifteen minutes, myself, the school janitor, and one of my seventh-grade students had driven up the sides of steep hills, down into pristine valleys, and through herds of cattle and prairie dog towns. Now the only thing separating us from our destination (my student’s house), was the Grand River, and the dilapidated bridge before us.

History Worth Repeating

Pat Gallagher, ’86, reflects on the importance of DTD history

Like the many great Delts that came before him, and for the many that will come after him, Pat Gallagher’s knowledge and appreciation for the history of the fraternity is deeply rooted in his pride of being a member of Delta Tau Delta.  In fact, it was history that determined the structure of Middle Leonard itself. “Most of us lived in Middle Leonard our Junior year and room picks were based on how well we scored on a written exam of Delta Tau Delta history,” he recalls. “The top score had the first pick of the available rooms and went to Phil and Don for the room at the top of the second-floor stairs.”
