It has been a busy time for Chi Chapter and Kenyon College over the past 18 months. However, I am beyond excited to share some important and exciting news Chi Chapter has made since our last update.
This semester we accepted 17 new members (10 Sophomores and 7 Juniors) for the Fall of 2021. New members join us from local cities like New Albany, OH and Washington, D.C. and others join us from Ghana, Mexico City, and Mumbai. Pledging is going well thanks to our Guide Nathan Junk ‘23, VP Brad Berlick ‘22 and our Pledge Educators Niall Regan ‘22 & Gregor Bates ‘22. Recently six alumni from the classes of 2020 and 2021, including former President Sam Becker ‘20, returned to Gambier to support Brothers during Kenyon’s homecoming weekend. Actives and alumni got to hang out and relive our memories as they watched the Kenyon Football Team beat Oberlin 24-21.
In other news, Chi has continued our efforts on the philanthropy side, continuously working with the Red Cross in blood drives as well as volunteering at local events for charity. This weekend, Brothers will volunteer at Habitat for Humanity’s 5K handing out water and moving equipment for the race. We look forward to hosting parents this weekend at the Lodge for Parents’ Weekend. We will hopefully have a cookout at the Lodge to show them a good time.
We have also designed a t shirt in honor of Chi’s 140th year. I am extremely excited and would love to see the interest from alumni in our design. In order to gauge interest in this t shirt among our alumni members, the undergrads are asking our alumni to take this quick 2-minute survey on the design of this shirt. You can find the survey HERE
As the end of my term as the Alumni Relations Chair for Chi comes to an end, I wish you all a very warm and happy holiday season. We hope alumni will continue to reach out and visit when possible. Until then, be safe, be well, and have a lovely end of the year.
In X,
Rocco Danese ‘23
