Why would anyone volunteer to oversee our fraternity?

Could volunteering with your brothers really lead to a longer life?

According to a recent article by the Wall Street Journal, volunteering could be good for your health – particularly once you’re retired. A study “involving more than 64,000 subjects age 60 and older from 1998 to 2010 has found results suggesting that volunteering slows the cognitive decline of aging.”

Let’s all take a minute to thank the guys for donating not only their precious time, but their talent and treasure as well. Why do they do it? Well, it’s all tied to science!

Tackling Tradition – How One DTD Chapter Stays Connected

A 50-Year Tradition of Going Fishing!

*This is an article that was featured on the Delta Tau Delta website:

Members of Delta Pi Chapter at the University of Southern California continue an annual reunion that started with a fishing trip. “The success and persistence of our annual gathering is based on a tight bond of friendship and respect that we developed together from age 17 to age 22,” said Pat Fuscoe (University of Southern California, 1972). “In those formative years, we all learned together and helped each other along. Many of the skills and personality traits we all have today stem for the four or five years we shared as Delt undergraduates.”

“The trip persists because it evolved from just a fun fishing excursion to dinners together and storytelling around a barbecue,” Fuscoe said. “The bond is simple: we all grew up together and love to relive those emotional, transformational years.”

Chapter Eternal – Dr. Robert “Doc” Burns

Kenyon Mourns the Death of Longtime Biology Professor Dr. Robert “Doc” Burns

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Dr. Robert D. Burns on May 1.  Bob “Doc” Burns was a Professor Emeritus of Biology at Kenyon and served as faculty advisor for Chi Chapter for over 35 years.  Doc was a very faithful and loyal Delt who was initiated into the Distinguished Service Chapter of Delta Tau Delta which honors alumni who have been actively loyal to the Fraternity for at least twenty years. There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Bob Burns on September 28 in Gambier. Details to follow.
